While we will no longer host tournaments at The Sandlot (formerly the old Mickey Owen Baseball School), Sandlot Baseball will continue to provide the same quality youth baseball tournaments throughout the 4 State region. Under the direction of Brad Longley and Tom Cox, Sandlot Baseball will be hosting tournaments in Mt. Vernon, and many other area facilities in 2024.

Sandlot Baseball tournaments will be one day (Saturdays only), 3 games guaranteed and played in some of the areas finest ballparks. There is never a gate fee and coolers are always welcome. We will use quality age-appropriate fields where kids from 8-14 can play baseball from April to August. The 2024 schedule includes 12 tournaments.

Thank you for the overwhelming support of coaches, players, parents and fans. Because of you, Sandlot Baseball lives on.

New Overnight Camp Format for 2016

2016 will once again include 2 Overnight Camps at The Sandlot.  However, the content of the camps will now bring a new and exciting format.  In the past, the camps provided instruction on Thursday and Friday and concluded with 3 games in the tournament on Saturday.  The new look camps will concentrate more on instruction and skill development during all 3 days.  As in the past, players will attend a Springfield Cardinals game on the first night of the camp.

This year's dates provide a little more flexibility for players connected with teams that play on most weekends.  The first camp will be held from Monday, June 9 through Wednesday, June 11.  This will allow players to attend camp during the week and still play with their team in a tournament scheduled the following Saturday and/or Sunday.  The Springfield Cardinals play Arkansas on Monday evening.

Camp #2 will be held from Thursday, July 18 to Saturday, July 20.  Attendance at the Springfield Cardinals game will be on Thursday night against Arkansas.

Both camps begin with registration anytime after noon on the first day and players will report to the field at 1:00 PM.  Camp will conclude at noon on the third day after awards and recognition.  There will be emphasis on hitting, pitching and fielding with the players being videotaped in High Definition and reviewed with them.  Skills contests and many fun activities are planned.

Cost for each camp is $160.  This includes instruction, video review, room and board, snacks, ticket and transportation to the Springfield Cardinals game.  To sign up, go to the Registration Page under Overnight Camps.
