Sandlot Baseball

As we enter our 16th year, Sandlot Baseball continues to provide the same quality youth baseball tournaments throughout the 4 State region. Under the direction of Brad Longley and Tom Cox, Sandlot Baseball will be hosting tournaments in many outstanding facilities in 2025.

Sandlot Baseball tournaments will be one day (Saturdays only), 3 games guaranteed and played in some of the areas finest ballparks. There is never a gate fee and coolers are always welcome. We will use quality age-appropriate fields where kids from 8-14 can play baseball from April to August. The 2025 schedule includes 12 tournaments.

Thank you for the overwhelming support of coaches, players, parents and fans. Because of you, Sandlot Baseball lives on.

We hope you'll join us in 2025, and look forward to hearing those immortal words, "Play Ball!"

Building Better People Through Baseball

More rain, but May 16 Tournament plays on.

Friday evening rains coupled with an early Saturday morning shower almost canceled our second consecutive tournament.  While we weren't able to get all of the fields ready, we were able to get several divisions completed.  The weather turned beautiful and the baseball was awesome!

The city of Neosho was well-represented taking home the hardware in both the youngest age bracket and the oldest.  Neosho Baseball Academy won the 8u and the Neosho Wildcats won the 14u.  The Willard Tigers won the 11u division and the Liberal Yard Dogs won the 10u.  Thanks to the Sandlot 10u team from Mt. Vernon for coming out to play against the Forsyth Thunder.  In a special game, the Thunder held off the Yard Dogs in one of the best games of the day.

Special thanks to the Springfield Sports Complex for hosting 3 divisions.  12 teams got to play in 3 different age groups that otherwise, might not have had the opportunity.  Playing baseball is what we're all about.

Thanks again for your continued support of Sandlot Baseball.  If you're interested in playing in one of our future tournaments, please register early.  They are filling up fast this year!  Our next tourney is May 30 and it is going to be a big one.  We will be using the Mt. Vernon fields and who knows what other facility?!

As always, our motto remains, "Building Better People Through Baseball."

May 9 Tournament Washed Out!

We worked hard Friday to get the fields ready for another full tournament at The Sandlot.  Brad dug trenches to get standing water off the dirt portion of the infields, periods of sun and wind provided enough drying to get them turned over and when we left for home Friday night, all 6 fields were ready for play.

But despite our best efforts, heavy pre-dawn rainfall has caused us to cancel a tournament for the first time in 2015.  Our apologies to all of the players, coaches and fans who were looking forward to a great day of baseball at The Sandlot.  The forecast is calling for quite a bit of additional rain throughout the weekend.

We hope you will be able to play in one of our future tournaments.  Next week's tourney (May 16) will only be played at The Sandlot, so space will be limited.  Mt. Vernon's fields won't be available as they will be playing their big Opening Day games because of rain this week.

We would like to wish you and your families a great Mother's Day weekend and say thank you to all of the moms who sacrifice so much so their kids can play ball.  You are awesome!
